- Outside Diameter (OD)- The physical & actual distance across the tube or pipe
- Die "Set" - Consists of a bend die & counter die
- Pipe - Nominal bore pipe is where the designation refers to the internal size of the pipe vs the outside size of the pipe e.g. 1.5" pipe has an OD of 1.9" or 48.3mm vs 1.5" or 38.1mm. See link for expanded explanation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominal_Pipe_Size
- Tube - Where the actual designation refers to the physical outside size of the tube. E.g. If it is designated as 1.5" or 38.1mm then the OD is 38.1mm*CLR - (Centre Line Radius) See reference link on our website
- Centre Line Radius (CLR) – when a tube is bent into a U-shape, the measurement from the centre of one leg to the centre of the other leg divided by two will give you the CLR. Then reference the attached drawing with a link.
Baileigh Industrial die sets are machined from high quality steel that resist wear and tolerate high levels of stress that occur during the bending process. Cast die sets can break easily and do not withstand the rigors of long term bending like our machined die sets can. Our dies sets are offered individually and in packages. Factors to consider when reviewing a bending application:
- Outside diameter of the tube or pipe
- Wall thickness of the tube or pipe
- Center Line Radius of the application
- Degree of Bend
- Type of Material (Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium)
- Grade and/or alloy of material (e.g. Aluminium: 60601 T6, or Stainless: T304)
